Bev is an ANP and prescriber working in general practice in Gloucestershire. She has a special interest in long-term conditions, including diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD), cardiovascular disease, and heart failure. She is a Council Member for the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society, with particular responsibility for diabetes and CKD, and is Editor in Chief of Practice Nurse Journal. She has contributed to national CVD working groups, is a regular speaker at national conferences and has authored articles on the management of long-term conditions. Bev has developed and delivered accredited modules in cardiorenal metabolic disease for organisations such as the Open University and is a PhD researcher with Edinburgh Napier University.

Theresa is a Nurse Consultant in Diabetes at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust and an Honorary Visiting Professor in Diabetes Care at Birmingham City university.
In her clinical role she leads teams at the Trust's three hospitals and community site and works closely with the ICB to improve diabetes care for people with diabetes in Birmingham.She has a special interest in maternity and pre-conception care for women with diabetes and has been part of the preconception service for over 20 years.
In her academic role, she co-leads the Pregnancy in Diabetes MSc module and teaches on other post-registration, BSc and MSc courses on diabetes. She has published articles and book chapters and presented widely at conferences.

Lynne spent over 13 years working within the pharmaceutical sector. Her last position was for a leading diabetes company.
Lynne’s passion has always been education and training with the primary aim to improve outcomes (and therefore quality of life) for adults living with diabetes, regardless of their age or circumstances - she believes that an educated and empowered workforce is crucial to achieve this.
Since DUET diabetes Limited's inception in 2015, Lynne and her colleagues have helped numerous social care and healthcare providers increase the knowledge and confidence of their team members through clinically (and role) relevant interactive workshops.
Lynne is a Member of the National Advisory Panel on Care Home Diabetes, co-author of ‘Enhancing diabetes care for the most vulnerable in the 21st century: Interim findings of the National Advisory Panel on Care Home Diabetes (NAPCHD), Diabetic Medicine 2023’, a mentor for the Care Quality Network (cqn) and a member of the advisory board for Quic Diabetes Framework.
Elizabeth (Liz) Barnett

Liz has been working to improve health and wellbeing in Norfolk for more than 15 years. She has a background in public health, leading and managing numerous health improvement interventions for Norfolk County Council. She has been part of the Diabetes Team for 18 months and recently taken on the role to manage the Diabetes programme. Working closely with service providers she continues to oversee and lead the development of: • Secondary Prevention interventions e.g. NDPP, Structured Education T2DR and T2DaY • Pathway Transformational interventions e.g. Type 1 Disordered Eating (T1DE), Transitioning Young Adult (TYA) and Enhanced Diabetes Primary Care pilots, Multi-Disciplinary Footcare Teams, Diabetes In-patient Specialist Nursing Teams, insulin provision in the community, Diabetes Technologies.
Professor Anne Phillips

Anne Phillips is a Queen's Nurse and a National Teaching Fellow with the Higher Education Academy. After a career in specialist and community diabetes nursing in London and Yorkshire, Anne previously worked with colleagues at the University of York and established a countrywide and international collaborative curriculum for Health Professionals in Diabetes Care. She also worked with Diabetes UK with clinical colleagues to provide an annual diabetes conference for primary care in the Northern & Yorkshire area.
Anne was awarded the Quality in Care ‘Outstanding Diabetes Educator’ Award in 2014.
Anne’s doctorate studies concerned invigorating diabetes health professional education to meet service and client centred needs.
Anne has published 102 peer reviewed articles and edited ‘Principles of Diabetes Care" which was published in 2017 in its 2nd edition. She has been an editorial member for the European Medical Journal Diabetes Series and UK Practice Nursing Journals to enable outreach of diabetes education to practice colleagues.
Anne has a Honorary Contract as a Diabetes Research Nurse with the Diabetes Team at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital, Birmingham.

Natasha Marsland MSc RD, specialist Diabetes Dietitian with over 25 years’ experience including in NHS acute and community settings with a postgraduate certificate in Diabetes Care. Currently working as a senior clinical advisor within the care team at Diabetes UK and was a member of Diabetes UK nutrition guidelines working group producing the latest evidence-based nutritional guidelines for adults with diabetes and those at risk of type 2 diabetes. She has recently received a MSc in disability studies from the University of Bristol and explored the hospital experience of adults with learning disabilities and diabetes during the pandemic. A professional member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA), and member of BDA’s Diabetes Specialist and Mental Health groups.

Tahira Bashir, a Consultant Dietitian, specialises in diabetes, obesity, weight management, cardiovascular health, global nutrition and overall wellbeing. Alongside her role as a Senior Lecturer for the Advancing Diabetes Care Programme in Birmingham, she educates a diverse range of medical professionals from around the world. With over 25 years of experience in clinical NHS practice, education and private sectors, Tahira has collaborated with esteemed organisations such as Diabetes UK, British Heart Foundation and the British Dietetic Association. She has authored numerous publications addressing diabetes care, obesity, weight management and global health.

Having worked as an NHS Diabetes Specialist Nurse for 14 years, Susie moved into the medical device industry, where she worked for 20 years in Diabetes technology and Insulin Pump therapy. Susie returned to Diabetes Specialist Nursing for a short period before joining Abbott Diabetes Care as a medical educator in continuous glucose monitoring.
In her current role, Susie supports and provides education in the use of CGM and data interpretation to HCPs in both secondary and primary care setting.
