Martha qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2002 at the University of Nottingham and her early career was in Derby. She joined the Diabetes Team at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, Birmingham in 2015 as a Diabetes Educator for healthcare professionals and the team won the Best in Care award for training/ education in 2017. Martha progressed into the Diabetes Specialist Nurse role and in 2020, she joined BCU as a Senior Lecturer, progressing to Programme Lead in 2024. Martha has authored 15 nurse-focused diabetes articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored diabetes book chapters, co-edited a book and has presented at diabetes conferences.
